Our water fracturing product line is the new SMI 420¨, which replaces the popular and durable SMI¨ 320. The advantages of the SMI¨ 420 over the 320 are:
- Elimination of weekly lubrication
- Addition of vibration sensor to shut down motor before severe damage occurs during operation
This product is mounted on a boom which raises and lowers (and can be aimed at differing angles as well as vertical) or on a frame which rests on the ground. The SMI¨ 420 is used primarily where a medium area of land or containment pond is available to catch over spray and droplet drift. The water is blown high in the air Ð about 25-40 feet Ð and water evaporation occurs at a very high rate through the extended hang time of the water droplets. The distance of drift is very dependent upon the wind speed and direction. Drift can be minimized at wind speeds of less than five miles per hour. In many conditions, the entire water droplet is evaporated so no wet over spray is seen.
The 420 is designed to operate at low water pressures (20Ð100 psi) which produces between 30 to 100 gpm of water spray. Average annual evaporation rates up to 70 percent have been achieved through the SMI¨ 420, but typically fall between 40 to 60 percent. This rate is dependent upon many factors such as ambient temperature, relative humidity, water chemistry makeup, solids content, and wind speed and direction. In general, the warmer and drier the conditions, the higher the evaporation rates achieved. The SMI¨ 420 Evaporator can pass particles up to 3/16" (5mm) in diameter which eliminates the need for pre-filtering, filter cleaning and the hassles of clogged nozzles.
Options for this line include filters and fittings.
